European project E-CUOREMA

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death, with an estimated 17 million deaths / year. The World Heart Federation has also confirmed that there are 17.9 million deaths a year from CVD and that they represent 30 to 70% of total deaths. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Heart Federation (WHF) have established that it is necessary to reduce the risk of death from non-communicable diseases by 25% by 2025, through action on the risk factors of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore CVR (Cardiovascular rehabilitation) is a fundamental step in the context of secondary prevention. Cardiovascular rehabilitation programs have been shown to reduce mortality by 20%. Unfortunately, it has been observed that at the end of a Cardiovascular Rehabilitation program, patients lose the enthusiasm to maintain a constant commitment to take care of themselves and improve their lifestyle.

Thus was born the idea of developing an mHealth that can sustain, motivate and support patients even in everyday life.

Il Progetto mHealth CUOREMA, è vincitore del bando europeo EUROSTARS, nasce dall’esperienza della cardiologa dr.ssa med. Tania Odello, of the clinical nurse Fabrizio Pertile and of CUOREMA Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Team dell’Ospedale Malcantonese (www.cuorema.com) from which it takes its name, from the skills of Francesca Faraci, head of the research group of Bio Signal Processing at the Department of Innovative Technologies of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Italian Switzerland (SUPSI), with the valuable skills of Prof. Tom Wilkinson, Scientific Director of the My MHealth company (www.mymhealth.com - United Kingdom), a company specializing in the development of digital solutions for the management and support of long-term health and the skills of René Luigies, Head of Business Development at Games for Health (www.gamesfor.health – Paesi Bassi), azienda specializzata nella progettazione di serious games e applicazioni per la sanità e il benessere.

The work has been partially supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) and the European Union as part of the project E! 115067 CUOREMA

In this project we will have the pleasure of collaborating with Ticinese Pulmonary League, with the firm ALFAGAMMA (www.alfagamma.ch), distributor and manufacturer of medical devices and with the company L.I.F.E.
